I have to agree with April on this one. Introducing a character through " hi my name is ..." is kind of cliche. You may be 12 but who knows if you want to become an author when you grow up. I started writing stories at 7 not sure if I wanted to pursue a career of writing. And by the way don't think we'll be super pitifully to you only because your 12 I'm 13 and I don't use the lame excuse of " I'm young so don't expect me to be perfect" Don't use clothing stores be original and make your own up because let's face it in a couple of years hot topic will be long gone. Also be more descriptive and maybe try reading some other well written diary like books or more first person books.

I've been going to the gym for about three months now working out 4-5 times a week ranging from 30-60mins per session. I use the rowing machine and treadmill. I noticed that I am developing calluses on the back of my hand just at the start of my fingers. Am I going too much at once? What should I do? I don't want to stop my workout.

The important thing when you work out is to strengthen your previous injuries, not hurt them. So it would be best if you didn't push yourself too hard. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is no way you will loose 25 pounds in a month. You would literally have to run on a treadmill and eat nothing but carrots. It's not happening. But you could loose anywhere from 8+ pounds easily in a month. You are going to have to change up your diet plan and track your calories (I use a website called Live-Strong: www.livestrong.com) and you will have to find a routine that mixes up strength training, cardio, and weight training. If you have a great fitness center talk to your coach about a workout plan. Or -if you can afford one- try hiring a personal trainer, they know exactly what to do. I feel bad that I can't help you out more but I would need lots more information about your injury, your diet, your activity level, and a bunch of other routine stuff. I hope that helped.

what you are talking about is exactly what i know and what i do, to the exact T to what you just said. i dont think it is bad for you to have casien before bed. ive never heard that before. i drink a shake before i go to bed and i even wake up in the middle of the night if i get hungry and something small to eat and go back to bed, i try to make sure my body always has something so it wont attack my muscles for energy. i say keep donig what you are doing...hope that helps

I know how you feel because I also believe religion is a private and personal matter for myself. Since religion is mainly a group practice, and most religions advocate spreading their faith, it is difficult for people who consider their beliefs private or personal to deal with that. My close family members are Muslim and they occasionally reprimand me for not following rules, however, my beliefs align with Zoroastrian beliefs, and although I am in agreement with my Muslim family members on many of their beliefs as well, I prefer not to discuss or argue, but to maintain my personal spirituality, and freedom of choice. Most people just want to make sure you are doing what they approve of, I think its about power and control.

I work at a pet store, and we ran out of our night time bulbs and a couple habitats are burned out. I instructed my employees to just leave them be since the store temp. does not drop under 70 degrees they will be just fine. and they need a coolness cycle ociated with night time. well, another employee on the same level as me decided it would be best to put a day basking bulb to replace the night one, giving them a 24 hour day cycle. Now, i am pretty darn sure what i told them to do was the right thing to do, and that a 24 hour day cycle is more harmful than going without an additional heat source at night. what are your opinions?

Question about verbal/emotional abuse?

I have heard it said that people who are verbally or emotionally abusive - control freaks, etc. are suffering from a psychological disorder. If that is the case, what type of disorder would it be clified as? Perhaps narcissism? What is the best way to try to help someone like this (an otherwise amazing person) who has no idea how awful they can be? Ive thought about writing a letter because this particular individual does NOT like to listen or be told that he is wrong (obviously an aspect of the disorder)...but im afraid that any sort of criticism will only fuel the fire so to speak? My laptop is totally screwed up and is completely unusable. My problem is I have this expensive *** Ipod Touch that i cant sync anymore because I dont want to lose all my music. My plan was to get a new computer before to long and I was told I could transfer all the information stored on my "hard drive" i guess from the old computer to the new computer.. In the mean while i just havent been able to sync my ipod or get any songs onto it except from itunes store when im connected by wifi.. Well now i seem to be screwed unless someone can help me. Omg lol.. The other day the ipod was acting all screwy when i was on the internet browser so i resetted it i guess by holding the 2 ons until it shuts off... waited a few minutes and held the power on until the apple icon pops up.. Now normally u wait a minute or two and the apple icon goes away and your screensaver comes on along with the slide unlock feature to go to the main "desktop" i guess u call it.. Nope.. This time i am showed icons basically telling me that i need to sync my ipod to my computer.. Im guessing for an ipod update. It shows a disc with a blue music note on top of it and it says "iTunes" directly under this with an arrow pointing from an image of my "sync" cable to the itunes, blue music note, disc emblems... Ok so what are my options here?? I definately am not losing my songs so anything that has to do with that is out the window.. Way too much time invested in getting all that music.. Like is there some way i can transfer my songs from my ipod to another computer or can i bring up my itunes with all my songs already on it on another computer? Hershey has a decent amount of kiddy rides, my kids liked it when they were younger. I work in Phila in Old City (the historic area). Make sure one of your first stops is the Visitor Center (not a tourist trap place) at 6th and Market. It is also where you get tix to Liberty Bell & Ind Hall. There is so much to do in Phila, (Betsy Ross House, Elfreths Alley, USS Olympia, Carpenters Hall, Congress Hall, Phillies game, Franklin Square, Comcast center, etc etc). The food is also excellent.

Has anyone had problems with Walgreen's one hour photo?

OK, so I'm learning how to play with my Holga. I have modded it it use 35mm film. The first roll I know I messed up on, it was over exposed thus it was blank. However, I have read up and thought I covered my bases. I've been very careful to load and unload film in complete dark, I've made sure to tape any place I might be getting light leeks, I've been sure to tape the end of my film securely and centered on the left hand spool, ect. I found that when I ran my film down to Walgreen's for One Hour photo, they cropped the sprockets from my photo's and out of 24 exposures I only received about 6. I realize Walgreen's isn't necessarily the ideal place to get my film developed but 'm not sure if I'm just missing something or if the problem actually lies with Walgreen's.

When you order on their site they have all these options like the colour (they have an extensive range) and what spacing you want, the magnet, the sort of pole pieces you want. If you want to play heavy metal i recommend using ceramic magnets. not sure what sort of polepieces you should get but i don't think it matters much.

Help! I need some potty training advice!?

I have a 4 month old female Chihuahua puppy... I have been very diligent as far as trying to potty train her. The only problem is it doesn't matter if i put her on a feeding schedule, or take her out constantly she still insists on going in the house! I am home quite often, and it seems like she wants to be with me constantly! I cant always watch her or carry her because I have things that need to be done. I give her lots of attention, but it seems like the minuet she is away from people she goes to the bathroom... even if she just went outside. On top of all that, I cant put her in a crate because she goes to the bathroom in there too. She will even lay in her own mess! I tried making the crate smaller and it didn't work she still kept going. So now she has taken over the guest bathroom because I cant put her in a crate when I need to clean and do school work, she also goes in the bathroom as well soo im constantly cleaning up after her. I'm exhausted, please any ideas would truly be a life saver. I really dont wanna have to give up my puppy. :( ......... Oh and also she is not sick, I have taken her to the vet. I believe she is just being unreasonably stubborn.

What is my mourning dove doing?

i believe it is a mourning dove, or 'desert dove'. I saved it about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It was lying in the gr late at night surrounded by cats. The dove wasnt even fully feathered and could barely walk or move. So naturally i took it in, bought it a roomy cage and began nursing it back to health. Now it is fully feathered and can fly short distances but it will not eat any seeds, i have tried every trick i could find. It just wont use its mouth but it doesnt even like if i feed it. Everytime i take the top off the cage the bird flies directly at my head, face or upper chest. It pecks repeatedly at my mouth, hand, fingers or chest (gently oif course, never hard) and it flaps its wings like crazy and makes alot of noises. Is it trying to fight me?? should i just release it? but it wont eat on its own, it doesnt do anything on its own. When i first got it i was told not to handle it too much, so i dont. I only touch it when i have to feed it. But the bird wont even open its mouth still. I still have to tilt its head back and force the mouth open to get food in him. Every chance the he gets he jumps out of the cage and runs across the floor to me, or flies at my head or stands on my feet. But it always ends up scratching me because he repeatedly tries to gently peck my mouth. What is it doing?!!!! and how do i tell if it is even a guy? I named it wilbur (just like charlottes web) because i think it was thrown out of the nest by the mother for being ''off''. and it wouldnt have stood a chance out there.

I actually would keep the job and take cles around where you live in the evening to further what you are doing at work. You will be further ahead in the future. Already in a job you want in a field you are pursuing. It does not get much better than that. Living at home at your age is not a big deal. A lot of kids live at home until they get a job and save some money or while they are going to school. You cannot turn 18 and just move out. You start life out in the hole that way. Sleeping getting worse...?

My 8 month old daughter used to sleep really well, most nights she would sleep 12 hours continuously and if she woke through the night she would soothe herself back to sleep. Since she had a uti 2.5 months ago her sleeping has became worse, gradually she would only sleep 10 hours at a time than 9,then 8 etc.. Her uti has cleared up and there's no damage to her kidneys but her sleeping now is so erratic. For the past 2 weeks she has been wakening up to 5 times per night. I've tried changing her nappy, seeing if she is too hot or cold, her gums aren't bothering her, she isnt hungry...i try offering her milk and she will drink a little but not much. Sometimes when she wakes she whinges a bit and i just reure her im there but dont pick her up and she will drop off back to sleep, other times she just cries and cries and wont settle until i pick her up. Is she just playing me up until i pick her up or is it normal for babies to go through a phase like this?

Can Oust remove cigarette smoke?

Yes it will if there isn't much of it. I use everything to get rid of cigarette smoke and film. vinegar left in a small dish overnight will do a good job too. I also use Frebreeze. Mostly the cigarette smoke clings to your walls and furniture even if you use Oust to help remove the smell. we both smoke and I am always washing off walls with ammonia and baking soda, rinsing with white vinegar and water. It always makes it look new again. The film is awful dirty and filthy yellowish/brown. So it is quite a job to keep doing it. It would be better to quit smoking but quite difficult because my other half won't quit. If you are lucky and just a little bit of smoking was done the Oust will do a good Job.

Is there a way to stop young Latino males from joining a gang?

I asked this in the Men's Health section because there could be better advice here than other sections. I am mentoring a student who I know has recently joined a gang (his clmates tell me). He doesn't like doing any of the clwork. He comes to cl without a backpack or notebook and generally disorganized. I remembered that he called me a "b----" after I asked him where his notebook was. 14 to 8 is a HUGE jump to take @ once!! I don't recommend it @ all. You'll feel really stupid trying to save money when you permanently mess your ears up. You could rip your ear & it could get infected. Or, if you try to jump too fast the hole in your ear will heal all withered & it'll look really bad. And that's permanent, even if you shrink your ears back down, the withered look will stay. If you want to stretch your ears, do it correctly. 3-4 weeks in between stretches, and don't skip sizes. You can get acryllic plugs VERY cheaply on ebay, & you can even get lots that have many different sizes together. Those will hold you over until you can get better quality jewelry in the size you want to stay at.

Your new kitten is going to have lots of energy. She might be trying to become the dominating cat, over the other cat. The best thing you can do is give her lots of attention and try to play with both of them together. That should help relieve some of the anxiety of the older cat. My cat was 18 when I introduced a younger same cat and it took a while, but they finally got along and started playing together. Just give them both lots of well deserved attention and everything should work out just fine.

2000 dodge grand caravan low power and bad mpg.?

my dodge has a 3.0 mfi engine it was averaging between 23 - 26 MPG now it is around 14- 16 mpg. It doesn't have near the Power in accelleration that it should have. 140,000 mile. I replace the spark plugs and wires but that did not help. Check engine light is NOT on. but it does work. Obd computer did not help. any Ideas would be helpful.

I have bipolar I, OCD, Panic/anxiety disorder... AND health anxiety?

I was diagnosed bipolar at about 13, OCD about 2 years ago, Panic disorder 4 years ago, and for the past 8 months I have had an obsession with my health and dying. Why am I having all these issues. I compulsively check my body for lumps, I am afraid all the time of having cancer, and I dont know how to make it stop. I have been on every medication out there from lithium, zyprexa, depakote, geodon... a lot of anti depressants... several anti anxiety remedies.... I have never found a combination of meds that works for me and still be functional. I am currently not medicated and I know that that is not a good thing. I see my doc every week and because I refuse medication we just do counceling sessions. Believe it or not, even with my multiple diagnoses I am a successful person. I am in management at my job, I am able to maintain my home and pay bills, and raise my child all alone. That is why my doctors arent pushing meds anymore. I still wish I knew of some miracle pill or something new that may help me... any suggestions?

Should I stop turning my incubating eggs?

I received 2 duck eggs from a friend that I've been using in my incubator. The problem is I know that I am suppose to stop turning the eggs 2 days before they hatch, but I'm not sure when the hatch date is. I've been candling them regularly, and they've been very lively. It has been about 3 weeks and you can now see them struggling in the air sack (which takes up nearly half the egg now). How can I tell if they are trying to peck their way out and that I should stop turning them. What if I already screwed it up....if I candle and see the beak should l lean the egg onto it (i.e. turn the egg with beak facing down) so gravity will help them hatch? Thanks!!

use proper name in 3rd sentence... condense 4th and 5th sentences, re-word it, simplify... stick to the same order given in the first sentence. use a separate sentence to describe each way he IS like a modern hero, and then separate sentences to describe the ways he is not. The better one that is here is plan "A". The hardware that is installed on this unit will hold up to the abuse that intensive graphical games can give it. Biggest low point of both of the units is anything that says Vista on it. Not a Vista person and have been in the it field for 14 years. Rather use DOS than Vista. But personally I run XP SP3 with less problems than the most up to date Vista. Is the PP KBB value of a car the listed price or out-the-door price (after taxes, registration, etc).?

I'm interested in buying a used car from a dealership. I was able to haggle the listed price down to $16K, but the dealer won't go farther down. The out-the-door cost after tax and other fees is about $17,700. The price on KBB is $16K for good condition, $17K for excellent (private party). If the price on kbb is supposed to be representative of the listed price, I should be getting an ok deal. But not so much if it's the out-the-door price. So which is it? The car is in like-new condition, btw, according to my mechanic, but there is no warranty included/offered from the dealer, and no other extras offered. I don't know if this matters, but this is a rather rare car to find (not made anymore).

I know that technically both of these cities may have been considered southern geographically, but neither one of these cities seem very southern to me. I have lived in the area for 5 years, but I am originally from Louisiana. I sometimes get angry at people from the north for thinking that the south is all gr fields and farms with no form of urban life. But even urban life in the south has a different feel than urban life in the north, specifically on the east coast. Growing up in the south, we never considered either one of these cities part of the south, culturally speaking. They were considered part of the east coast, along with Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Being here, I have always felt like I was on the northeast coast, until a recent discussion came up with friends about Baltimore/DC being below the Mason Dixon Line, and their links with the confederacy. While I acknowledge that this history is true, it still has not removed my feeling that this is definitely not considered the south.

I knew of a Chaselyn but not with the A in it. I think i like it better without it- its easier to say. Have you considered that? If you must have the A i think "Chasalyn" or "Chaysalyn" is the best. I will be honest, it looks ridiculous to have a random capital letter in the name without a space in it, or a "-" is quite weird. Bulimic, Anorexic Mom???????????

Okay, heres my situation. About four years ago my mother was a 250lb woman and was very happy, I loved her even though she was fat so did my dad that's how he married her and we love her. But she always wanted to be thin. So she goes and has a gastric byp, we tried to convince her that we loved her no matter how she looked and that she was healthy and could try a regular diet like everyone else, and that their was no need for a surgery. She didn't listen and had the surgery she apparently has had a few complications. Pretty much everything she eats she pukes it out. And she is now four years later weighing 117lbs and not so healthy, and on top of everything else about 1 year ago she had a tummy tuck and her , done and her tummy tuck had a complication but shes all better and that problem was fixed. Now she feels like puking but it doesn't come out by it's self she says she's fat and then eats food and will feel it coming down and says that her stomach hurts and goes and sticks her finger in her mouth. Now my question is what do I do? Is she bulimic anorexic, both? What should I do? I have already talked to her in the past but ignores it and says that it's not her fault, my dad has talked to her too, but says its her stomach condition. What should I do please help me? Oh and she's never really all that happy any more, uhhhh please help me!
