I'm applying to the Scottish Prison Service. Help?

I'm applying for a job as a prison warden in Scotland. I've been signed off my work with stress for a few weeks, basically because I'm being bullied/victimised at work. My question is will the prison service be able to check my medical records for the reason as to why I was absent? Can my current employer divulge the reason I was off to the Prison Service in a reference or can they only tell them the number of days I was off?
