Why can't anti-gun people understand that anti-gun laws only serves to put weapons in the hands of criminals?

Chicago has an unconstitutional weapons ban within the city limits. So criminals are armed to the teeth while law abiding citizens are defenseless. I am among the ranks of the criminals.
